Valentine's Day can be a real disaster … even in a town like Twilight, Texas!
These days, event planner Sesty Snow is no fan of hearts, flowers, or goo-goo eyes over dinner. She's learned to be in control of her life and her emotions. Still, running Twilight's annual Valentine's Day bachelor auction is right up her alley—until her high school sweetheart zooms back into town. He's still heart-stoppingly handsome, but it's clear he hasn't changed the daredevil ways that put the brakes on their first love.
Injured NASCAR driver Josh Langtree isn't up for being anyone's sweetheart these days either. He's just looking for a place to lick his wounds … until a misunderstanding lands him doing community service in Sesty's auction. Soon he finds himself standing in front of hundreds of screaming women—wearing a tux and a smile. And then there's Sesty—looking as tempting as ever.
He says he's changed, and the sparks between them are flying fast and furious, but can Sesty trust Josh to take the wheel and drive her into the future she never dreamed possible?
Sesty Snow is the event planner for a bachelor auction – wish I had a ticket. It’s an auction that’s scheduled around Valentine’s Day – sounds pretty romantic, right? Josh Langtree has returned to the area after being away for a while. And Sesty’s none too happy that he’s back in her life.
Lori always does a great job at developing her characters – you can almost feel the sparks between Sesty and Josh. Our author doesn’t make this story all hearts and flowers either. She shows how the expectations of a parent can shape how a child may turn out when they become an adult. This story also shows that there’s hope for those high school sweethearts that have parted ways. You never know what the future may hold.
I think that if you’ve never read Lori’s Twilight, Texas series this might give you the incentive to start reading her books. Our author also knows how to take a serious moment and turn it sexy – hand fan needed. If you are someone that likes to set the mood for when you read, sitting next to someone you think is sexy and cuddle with him or her might be nice. Listening to romantic music, maybe a little Barry White, may help as well.
This is a novella that reads more like a novel. No scene is cut short just because there aren’t a lot of pages. When it comes to the ending, you will have to decide if it’s HEA or HFN. And make sure to read to the very end because you’ll get a sneak peak for the next book in her Cupid, Texas series coming out in May. If you live in an area that is getting bombarded with snow, why not curl up and read this book. It’s also short enough that you can get it read all in one day and still have time to spend with your honey. (Reviewed by Lynn Reynolds from Romance Reader Enthusiast)
