Book Description:

For King and Country, three notorious rakes will put all their seductive skills to work. After all, the fate of England's monarchy is in their hands.

Since the death of his fiancée, Nathaniel Colton's polished boots have rested beneath the beds of countless wayward wives and widows of theton. He's careful to leave each lady smiling, and equally careful to guard his heart. So seducing Lady Georgette should pose no problem. But the beautiful reformist is no easy conquest, and Nate's considerable charm fails to entice Georgette to his bed. To woo her, Nate will have to make her believe he cares about someone besides himself—and no one is more surprised than Nate when he realizes he actually does.

It’s been three years since Nathaniel was disgraced while at war in France. As a result of his disgrace, Nathaniel is blackmailed by someone in power who doesn’t want to see Lady Georgette married to the Duke of Cambridge for political reasons. He’s ordered to seduce the virgin Georgette to prevent the marriage. This endeavor should be easy for Nathaniel who’s always had a way with women. Besides, it shouldn’t be too difficult getting to Georgette, after all, he’s sort of a family friend.

Unfortunately for Nathaniel, Georgette is less interested in seduction and more interested in saving women from themselves. She’s already saved her maid in waiting from one house of ill repute, there’s nothing stopping her from saving the rest of the women. Plus, Georgette is expected to marry the Duke of Cambridge, and she can’t let her parents down; she’s all they have. But Nathaniel is tempting, and it’s getting harder and harder to resist his kisses.

One Night with a Rake by Mia Marlowe and Connie Mason was a humorous read, with a likeable heroine and hero, amazingly funny secondary characters, and a well-paced and engrossing plot. It didn’t take me long to finish this story, and I enjoyed every second of it.

Georgette and Nathaniel were such fun characters, and the attraction between the two was palpable. From their witty banter, to their heated exchanges, to their heartfelt conversations, these two were so good together. Georgette in her crusade to save those less fortunate than herself often found herself in some odd and sometimes dangerous situations. Nathaniel had his hands full with not only seducing her, but saving Georgette from herself. I know it may sound corny, but in the end these two truly saved each other.
One Night with a Rake is the second book I’ve read by this writing duo, and I enjoyed it almost as much as the first one I read. If you’re looking for a book that will provide you with a little danger, some mystery, a sweet yet steamy romance, and a few laughs, then this is the book for you. It’s a great way to pass an evening or afternoon.
