Best of 2013 Audiobook Blog Hop

Posted January 1, 2014 by Sherri in Features, Giveaways / 44 Comments

Hi Everyone, Sherri here for this hop!!!  I was so excited to see this blog hop and thought it was perfect timing as we head into 2014.  The Best of 2013 Audiobook Blog Hop is where we highlight our favorite 3 audiobooks from 2013.  This hop is hosted by The Book Nympho, Hot Listens, and Geeky Bloggers Book Blog and it runs from Jan 1 2014 to Jan 15 2014.

I had the hardest time narrowing down my choices but these five titles all had five star reviews from me in 2013 and that doesn’t happen when I don’t enjoy the narration.  When I went back through my titles I truly enjoyed the narration by these narrators (and the stories weren’t so bad also).  🙂

Here are my top 3 for the year….

15814663_400Archangel’s Storm

By Nalini Singh
Narrated By Justine Eyre
Length: 11 hrs and 18 mins

Audio Thoughts: Justine’s unique voice adds an exotic twist to this series. In this standout series she shines with Raphael and Elena.

By Kresley Cole
Narrated By  Emma GalvinKeith Nobbs
Length: 12 hrs and 36 mins

Audio Thoughts: I love Emma Gavin!  Since this is a young adult novel her voice was perfect for Evie!  A top notch story and narration made this a five star award winner for me.

Ever After

By Kim Harrison
Narrated By Marguerite Gavin
Length: 18 hrs and 36 mins

Audio Thoughts: Marguerite is one of my top five narrators!  Her clear diction and cadence is perfect for Rachel, Trent and Tink!  I can’t imagine this series without her a part of it.

Oh I just started listening to audio books and Now I’m hook!!! I absolutely fell in love with books Narrated By Rosalyn Landor and Stevie Zimmerman!! I love their voices!!! Rosalyn’s a really great reader and she read Courtney Milan’s books perfectly! Stevie is also fabulous in Ava Stone’s books!!! Oh there’s Deliliah Marvelle’s books!!!

  2. Heck yes I am a fan but not picking favorites! No way. To be honest, I don’t think I could if I wanted too 🙂

Let’s go with my most recent favorite: Faith Hunter Series/Khristine Hvam 🙂

    Thanks so much for participating!

  3. Ooh Emma Galvin is one of my favorite narrators so I’m happy to see Poison Princess on your list. I still need to catch up with the sequel. Ever After sounds fantastic too. Happy listening!

  4. Kassandra

I have an hour commute to work and sometimes I listen to audiobooks to pass the time more enjoyably. I have found that I cannot listen to very descriptive sex scenes though……..makes me feel like I am watching porn >.<

  5. I do love audio books, not a fan of the old ones, took me a while to give them a try because my first test run was with Overdrive an old Johnna Lindsey, I think it was the first audio voice over ever done lord it was like robots doing it, literally. Traumatized me for a while there before I gave audio books a try again. So now I am all about the preview.

I haven’t tried an audiobook yet. I plan to, I just have to decide which book I want to try first.

  7. Victoria Zumbrum

I love audiobooks. I am hoping to win some more. I love the Twilight series and the Gift. Thanks for the giveaway.

  8. Great choices Sherri – UF and PNR are some of my favorite listens. Justine Eyre is fabulous with the Nalini Singh series.

  9. Barrie

I haven’t listened to a lot of Audiobooks. In the past for traveling, we listed to the Guardians of Ga’hoole.

  10. Krista

I love them but it depends on the narrator. I highly recommend anything by Lorelei King!

  11. One of my fav series to listen to is Jennifer Estep’s Elemental Assassin; Lauren Fortgang is an awesome narrator! Luke Daniels, the narrator of Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid Chronicles is pretty badass too. Thanks for the chance, happy New Year!

  12. Mia J

I am just starting audio books and have been enjoying getting some good recommendations. Thanks for the giveaway.

  13. Debra Neiman

White Fire from the Agent Pendergast Series by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, Narrated By Rene Auberjonois. Close second is Black Arts from the Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter, Narrated By Khristine Hvam. Happy New Year from Oklahoma, USA. crystalbluern at onlineok dot com

  14. Holly Letson

Other than the books that came with the records that read to me as a child, I am pretty new to the audiobook scene.

  15. Denise Z

I only listened to two audiobooks this past year, they were both on CD and the easiest way for me to listen to those is in the car. One was Janet Evanovich’s Explosive Eighteen, which was absolutely a hoot – great narrator and wonderfully funny book and I definitely recommend it, even if you have not read the series to date it is such fun. Thank you for participating in this fun hop 🙂

  16. I also loved The Arcana Chronicles, The Endless Knight was one of my Top 3 Audiobooks. I listened to Ever After, but sadly I didn’t like Marguerite Gavin. (IMO) Her voice felt too old for Rachel.
The cover of Archangel’s Storm made me laugh, I don’t understand why some books have beautiful covers but the audiobook cover sucks.
I recommend you Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor, narrated by Khristine Hvam. It’s simply amazing!
    Thank you for the giveaway.

  17. BookAttict

I love the In Death series by J.D. Robb, narrated by Susan Ericksen.
    Thanks for the amazing giveaway!

I’m pretty new to audio books, as in I’m listening to my first one now. But so far I enjoy it. I love reading, but when I am traveling on the road, doing house work, or relaxing in the evening, an audio book is a nice way to pass time!

  19. Iced by KMM was my favorite this year! I do love audiobooks and wished I could dedicate a little more time to them!

  20. Kamla L.

I haven’t listen to many audiobooks but the ones I have listen to I really enjoyed. Two of the ones I enjoyed are The Marriage Bargain by Jennifer Probst and Grave Mercy by Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers.

  21. Thank you for taking part in the hop!
I loved your first 2 choices! Yay!
I’m ashamed to admit that me and the first book in the Hallow series didn’t hit it off. Frankly, I couldn’t like the narration, but every year I make my self the promise to keep listening, and once again I have promised to continue the series…I hope I can do it this time 😉 I know it must be awesome, I just got get through the first book.
And heck yeah! I’m huge audiobook fan 🙂
    Thank you!

  22. LadyVampire

I am new to audiobooks so I don’t have a favorite yet but I love them. So cool to listen to a book on a long trip in the car or on a train. Thanks for the giveaway!

  23. BookLady

Even though I don’t have any audiobooks, I think they are wonderful and would love to win one. Your top three choices are three of my favorite authors. Thanks for the great giveaway!

  24. Niki G

Just started audiobooks through my library on overdrive first audiobook was Magic Bites and I ate through all of them as soon as i could get my file downloaded for them!! Renee had such spirit and passion while she narrated that I couldnt help falling for her voice! Magic Rises for this year on audio but Loralei King who does Patricia Briggs audiobooks is very good as well. Happy hopping all!! this is fun….

  25. I’ve only been listening to audio books on a regular basis for the past six months. My favorites so far have been; Bless Me Ultima, Joyland and Beautiful Ruins.

  26. Seyma Shabbir

I have only listened to one audiobook World War Z, loved it but would love to listen to more!

  27. Diana

I love audiobooks, they make my workday fly by faster. I discovered Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid chronicles last year and they are wonderful! Full of pop culture references, snark and laugh out loud moments, they are awesome for fans of UF.

  28. Awe.. Sad I just missed your personal giveaway! Great choices 🙂 I would love to listen to any of those 3!

I listened to my first audio book in December and loved it: Lust, Money & Murder by Mike Wells, narrated by Sue Sharp.
