Book Description:
It’s 1936. Thirty-year-old Alice has almost given up finding a man. Between civil engineering and mountain climbing, her interests are so masculine she scares men away. A poor route choice lands her next to horror movie star Lon Chaney’s cabin deep in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. She’s wary when Jed, a strikingly handsome man, offers her shelter.

By the time she discovers he’s clan leader for a pack of wolf shifters, she’s in way too deep to back out. Her carefully tended wasteland of a heart cracks wide open and all her preconceived notions shatter. Snared by the mate bond, Alice discovers passion hot enough to change her forever. She’s just getting used to Jed when his lieutenants show up, and she discovers she’s mated to all three.

Lynn’s Review:
Alice is climbing down a mountain and she’s cold and tired.  In her descent off the mountain she meets Jeddediah “Jed” Starnes.  This shifter tale takes place in the 1930’s but could actually take place in any year.  This is a great way to start off their story.

Jed needs to find relief – it’s been a while, if you know what I mean, and not just anyfemale will do.  What’s a woman to do?  Ann makes her shifters just a little different because they can cast spells.  Jed also has Terin and Bron as part of his family (pack) dynamic.

Alice sees herself more like a man than a woman.  I get the impression that she doesn’t feel that men would be interested in her.  And when we read the sex scenes they’re graphic and they sounds amazing.  But then shifters always seem to be highly sexual people anyway.  How can our mere mortal men compete?

I love how Ann has made this a historical romance and that people in that time period are aware of shifters.  With all the paranormals I read, I’d like to think that I would be accepting.  But it also wouldn’t surprise me if I turn tail and run – how about you?

I look forward to seeing what’s going to happen next with the Wolf Clan but we’ll have to wait and see.  I went to Ann’s web side and couldn’t find out anything about the next book.  But in the meantime, if you love this book you can see what else Ann has written. (Reviewed by Lynn Reynolds from Romance Reader Enthusiast)

  1. Good Morning, Lynn!
Wow! Thanks for your enthusiastic review of Alice’s Alpha. I’m so glad you liked it. Book 2 in that series, Mated! is coming soon, so you’ll get to see more of Jed, Alice, and the boys. And another family pack, too, with Les, Karl, and Noreen.
Your review was such a treat to wake up to.
