Book Description:

Althea Grant’s Charleston gallery might be suffering from the bad economy, and her artistic aspirations have gone nowhere, but she’s doing just fine, thank you. When bad-boy sculptor Steel rides up on his motorcycle looking to rent studio space, his infusion of cash is more than welcome. But his art is raw, visceral, sexual -- and completely inappropriate for her pastel world of watercolor landscapes.

Steel, fascinated by Althea’s rare albino coloring, sees in her the key to his next piece: a metal satyr designed for bondage games. Moving into her gallery basement is the first step; seducing the cool Southern belle into modeling for him is the second.

As Steel peels away her careful manners and tasteful outfits, Althea begins to realize her life isn’t fine at all -- it’s as pale and washed out as the watercolor paintings she’s failing to sell. Can she transform her life and accept her most secret desires?

Ginny’s Review

Yet another book I loved! I’m really loving Jeffe Kennedy’s stuff.

Honestly, there’s not much I can say that the description doesn’t, other than step three of Steel’s plan isn’t only getting Althea to model for him. This is another in a series of books by Kennedy where the safe word is also the book’s title. This time, Platinum, as Althea is albino and her hair is like silver.

Althea tried to be an artist, doing those small watercolors, but was told continuously by all her teachers and even her parents that she just didn’t have what it took. So she let go of that dream and decided to sell other’s works instead. But even that is in a decline and she’s facing yet another failure.

She’s in the process of trying to figure out what the next step is when Steel comes by with a wad of cash from his last huge sale of artwork, offering to rent the space out beneath her gallery — which is also beneath her apartment (hint, hint).

Steel is fascinated by Althea and her prim and proper ways, goading her into showing the sparks of passion and fire beneath her Sunday best. And when she gives in, sparks fly — literally, as he’s a metal worker.

This book contains some pretty hot moments in all sorts of fun places and ways. It makes me want a Steel of my own — and, while I at first thought his name was semi cheesy, it makes sense when you get to his full name and backstory — and also the fact that he IS a metal worker.

Also, major props to Ms Kennedy for keeping it real. Because very rarely in a book do you have the heroine wincing while peeing and cleaning up after some rough, amazing sex because she’s tender in her nether regions. Because that TOTALLY happens. It’s awkward, yes, but it’s true. So, seriously: major props.

Five out of Five because I LOVED IT. If you want some spice in your life, it’s a fast read and a great one!

EXCERPT

Kirliss captured her other wrist and held them close in front of her, his warm fingers massaging her skin, while he studied her face. The boat surged over a wave, disturbing her balance. Kirliss’s unusual eyes caught the light, boring into her.

“This is silly,” she tried.

“Do you want me to make you stay?”

“What?” Taylor choked. She couldn’t let him treat her this way. “No! You’ll do no such—”

She lost her breath entirely when he pressed up against her. Thinking he was trying to embrace her, she pulled away and found herself backed against the brass railing.

By the time she gathered her flustered thoughts, her wrists were handcuffed to the rail behind her. Mortified, a bit afraid and—worse—suddenly and wildly aroused…
