Special-needs teacher Kayla Johnston writes off any shot at New Year’s Eve romance when she’s summoned to a fundraising event for her school at the remote estate of a wealthy would-be-donor. But when a massive snowstorm hits and Kayla careens off the road, the sexy stranger who rescues her brings to mind cozy fireplaces and steamy midnight kisses…among other things.

Reclusive entrepreneur Ryan Langford may be missing his own fundraiser, but being marooned in a cabin with Kayla beats ducking a room full of people after his money any day. Too bad she’s so irritated with the ” gazillionaire” who ruined her New Year’s Eve that he feels like he has to lie about his identity. But when the sparks fly and they fall into each other’s arms, Ryan knows he’s made a big mistake. Will she be able to trust him once the snow melts and the truth comes out?

I’ve read some pretty decent contemporary romance novels lately, and Melting the Millionaire’s Heart by Linda Morris is no exception. It was a very short but sweet read, with an interesting premise and a likeable heroine and hero in Kayla and Ryan.

What I enjoyed most about this story was getting to know Kayla and Ryan and watching them grow as characters both individually and together. Kayla Johnston is smart and compassionate. She can also be very judgmental, particularly when it comes to Ryan Langford. To the outside world Ryan Langford appears to be a millionaire playboy, in reality he’s just a lonely guy who’s very guarded against those outside his immediate family because most people only want to be around him for his money. When they meet, sparks fly and the two go on an emotional journey that changes the way they view themselves and each other.

These two had some major chemistry. It didn’t take them very long to move to the physical phase of the relationship. And even though it was clear that they were physically attracted to each other, it was their emotional connection that allowed them to let down their guards. It took them sometime to get things right because there were a couple of truths withheld, but they eventually worked things out and became better people for it. Ryan showed Kayla that there’s more to people than their public persona, and Kayla showed Ryan that there are people out there who will love you for who you are.

All in all, I enjoyed this book and will be on the look-out for more books by this author. If you’re interested in reading something short but sweet, Melting the Millionaire’s Heart is perfect for you.  (Reviewed by Quiana – The Book Lover)
