Farran de Clare, loyal member of the cursed Knights Templar, wants nothing to do with predestined mates. Even the Almighty won’t turn him into a fool again—he’d rather sacrifice his soul. Yet in the scientist Noelle Keane, a devout atheist, Farran meets the seraph designed for him.
Ordered by the archangel Gabriel to protect Noelle, the possessor of a sacred relic that could give Azazel incredible power, Farran swears to do his duty—but in name only. Fighting an attraction that grows with each day, he’s determined that he’ll never pledge himself to her.
As they war over her future, their mutual passion ignites a conflict far more damning. But before Noelle will agree to eternity with him, she demands the ultimate sacrifice – his heart.
This book lets us see another member of the Knights Templar. In the beginning of this book, Claire reminds her readers about the curse. It takes place in 1119 and involves nine knights. You can read this as a stand-alone but I hope you will want to go back and read Immortal Hope if you haven’t already.
Noelle Keane is working in her lab when Gabriel San Lucee walks in. My first impression of Noelle is that she believes in what she sees on paper and not on what she can’t see. Noelle believes in science but she is not a religious person. Science doesn’t help her once she meets the Knights.
Noelle needs to make a trip and Gabriel thinks she needs company. He’s only thinking of her safety. There are forces that she is not aware of that want something that she has and they will go to any lengths in order to obtain it.
Farran de Clare is a loyal member of the cursed knights and he also knows Gabriel. Each knight has a Seraph. As each knight is different so is each Seraph. Anne, who is married to Merrick, shows us why Noelle is so different from her and why she was the first. Anne and Merrick’s story was in book 1.
Farran and Noelle are total opposites but you know what they say about opposites. Claire gives us the sex scene but it’s not quick, it’s not instantaneous, and it’s not over in just a couple of pages. Good things come to those who wait so you’ll just have to be patient as this develops. Some things just cannot be rushed. Plus we have to remember that there is a villain that is still trying to steal sacred relics.
Claire is building the suspense so that we will look forward to when Immortal Trust comes out next year. I went to her web site, http://www.claireashgrove.com/, and there is no hint as to what book 3 is going to be about. So in the meantime we will just have to be patient and keep an eye out for any hints as to which knight this book is going to be about and who is Seraph is going to be. It will be interesting to see if Anne, Merrick, Noelle, and Farran make an appearance in Immortal Trust. (Reviewed by Lynn from Romance Reader Enthusiast)
