Waiting on Wednesday (#31)

“Waiting On” Wednesday” is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating. Urban Girl Reader hasn’t done a WOW in a while, but today Lynn brought to my attention a book I know she is waiting to read so it seems an opportune moment to resurrect it.

Lynn’s choice for the week is the super hot, second book in the Semper Fi series by author Jeanette Murray. Awesome cover isn’t it!

The Officer Breaks the Rules

Jeanette Murray

Sourcebooks Casablanca

January 1, 2013

ISBN: 9781402265433

Categories: Contemporary Romance, Military Men

Book Summary:

Captain Jeremy Phillips believes in doing his duty…both as a son and as a friend. This means that he should obey the “friend code” and stay away from his best friend’s little sister. Too bad Madison O’Shay doesn’t believe in his code and is ready to break all of the rules

As a Navy nurse, Madison is finally stationed next to the man she’s been dreaming about for years. And she’s ready to launch a full-scale attack to show this thoughtful, handsome Marine that they belong together.

My choice for the week is a little bit darker, and much edgier. The Chicagoland Vampires series is one of my favorite and I can’t wait until to get my greedy little hands on this baby.  Looking forward to Ethan and Merit’s next adventure.

House Rules by Chloe Neill

NAL Penguin

February 5, 2013

ISBN: 978-0451237101

Categories: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance

Book Summary:

In a city full of vampires, trouble never sleeps.

At the tender age of 27, Merit became a sword-wielding vampire. Since then, she’s become the protector of her House, watched Chicago nearly burn to the ground, and seen her Master fall and rise. Now she’ll see her mettle—and her metal—tested like never before.

It started with two . . . Two rogues vanishing without a trace. Someone is targeting Chicago’s vampires, and anyone could be next. With their house in peril, Merit and her Master, the centuries old Ethan Sullivan, must race to stop the disappearances. But as they untangle a web of secret alliances and ancient evils, they realize their foe is more familiar, and more powerful, than they could have ever imagined.
